Guided Forest Bath in Essex
Experience a transformative journey to reinvigorate your senses and reconnect with nature.
Essex Quarry Nature Preserve
Champlain Area Trails (CATS) is hosting an immersive experience in the Japanese art of forest bathing or shinrin yoku in the Essex Quarry Nature Preserve near Lake Champlain.
This practice goes beyond hiking and involves a conscious effort to fully embrace the natural environment, engaging all your senses in the present moment. It is designed to reduce stress and blood pressure and improve mental clarity.
Peter Buef, a local meditation leader, will lead this session. During this guided forest bathing experience, participants will breathe deeply, stretch, talk, walk, and explore the interaction between their internal and external elements. In case you’re wondering, there’s no actual “bathing” in water involved.
The Essex Quarry Nature Preserve is located approximately a half mile south of the blinking light in Essex. Parking is available in the preserve's lot.
The event has limited space, so register now by emailing Torey@champlainareatrails.com to register!
Event organizers recommend bringing a blanket, yoga mat, and water bottle for maximum comfort. You may also want to bring a knife or sharp object for whittling. Get ready for an unforgettable experience.
For more information, visit the event webpage on CATS’ website.
CATS offers outdoor educational programs for free, thanks to their generous donors. The public’s support is crucial for them to continue providing these programs in the future. They would be grateful for your donation today!
