Celebrate Independence Day at historic Fort Ticonderoga with special events and programs throughout the holiday weekend, July 4-6, 2025.

Experience the early days of the Revolutionary War, where the first soldiers of the Continental Army fought for liberty. Guests will witness these citizen-soldiers preparing a range of weapons, both large and small, to defend Ticonderoga and Lake Champlain.

Enjoy the power of artillery and the crackle of muskets, march to the beat of the Fife & Drum, and participate in special family tours and hands-on activities throughout the weekend as we commemorate America’s independence at Fort Ticonderoga.

Search for Liberty: A Family Adventure!.

Step into the American Revolution at Fort Ticonderoga and help staff portraying Continental Army soldiers and artillerymen with their daily duties. Roll up your sleeves in this hands-on exploration of historic trades, including tailoring, shoemaking and boat building that were vital to the American cause. Visit soldiers’ quarters and discover the food and gardens that kept them fed as they served their country. Be sure to help soldiers with their tasks to earn prizes of historic proportions.

Fife & Drum Concerts
Experience the inspiring patriotic songs that helped shape a nation, as well as the everyday duties and marches that defined life in the army. Attend performances throughout the special event weekend featuring the fifes and drums of the American defenders of Ticonderoga. Witness the talented fifers and drummers from the Connecticut regiment that guarded Fort Ticonderoga 250 years ago, to the very day.

Key to the Continent Guided Tours
In this engaging half-hour tour, Fort Ti’s expert guides uncover the fascinating story of Ticonderoga and the wonderful experiences it offers today. Learn about the significant battles of Carillon and Ticonderoga during the French and Indian War, as well as the Revolutionary War. Discover the innovative preservation and reconstruction efforts that allow Fort Ticonderoga to share its heroic stories with visitors today and for generations to come.

Musket Demonstrations
Explore the evolution of firearms, from hunting weapons to historical British, Dutch, and French arms. Learn how the Colony of Connecticut equipped its soldiers and watch as newly drafted citizen-soldiers practice loading and firing their muskets while guarding Fort Ticonderoga.

The Power of Oxen
Meet teams of oxen in action and discover their work in the summer of 1775. Strong oxen were essential to the Continental Army at Ticonderoga, as they transported supplies along the portage route between Lake George and Lake Champlain.

Guided Tours of the Fort Ticonderoga Museum
Join the museum staff for a guided tour of Fort Ticonderoga, home to North America’s most extensive collection of 18th-century military artifacts. Discover highlights, including the enormous 32-pounder bar shot, the largest cannon projectile found here, designed to cut the rigging of British vessels on Lake Champlain.

Cannon Demonstrations
Discover how the first American garrison at Fort Ticonderoga prepared to use the fort's cannons to defend the northern approach of the rebelling colonies on Lake Champlain. Explore the ammunition and the operation of the old British and French cannons that the Americans loaded and fired together.
