Pendragon Theater Presents Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night”
A classic play is reimagined in the modern-day fictional village in the Adirondacks.

Pendragon Theatre presents a unique Adirondack-inspired interpretation of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, adapted by Michael Allen Aguirre, featuring original music from the local folk duo Blessid Dirt. The production celebrates both the natural beauty and local culture of Saranac Lake within one of Shakespeare's most beloved comedies.

In this fresh take, “Twelfth Night” is set in the fictional village of Illyria Lake, a picturesque spot ensconced among the renowned Great Camps and tranquil lakes of the Adirondacks.
Michael Allen Aguirre, the Managing Director of Pendragon, explained that the goal of this production is to blend Shakespeare’s enduring themes of identity, loss, and love with the genuine essence of the local culture.
This adaptation transforms Illyria into a charming lakeside resort village, surrounded by pine forests and historic Camp-style lodges, capturing the spirit of the Great Camps that have shaped the area's cultural and artistic heritage.
The acoustic duo Blessid Dirt, hailing from the Adirondacks, adds a captivating Americana soundtrack to the performance. Tereson Dupuy and Eric Pasternak’s original songs highlight pivotal moments—such as Viola’s arrival on the shore, Orsino’s daydreaming by the water, and Malvolio’s comical antics—featuring lyrics rich with lakeside imagery and melodies that resonate with the gentle sounds of the Adirondack shoreline.
In addition to evening performances, they will also offer a matinee at 2 pm on August 2 and 9. For more information, visit Pendragon Theatre’s website.
