The Pat Stratton Ride is happening in Saranac Lake on Saturday, August 22, 2026, sending cyclists onto the quiet roads and rolling terrain of the northern Adirondacks before welcoming them back to Mt. Pisgah Recreation Center with a post-ride barbecue — and, famously, fresh-baked pie.

This annual road cycling event offers 25-, 50- and 100-mile routes, with participation capped at 300 riders.

Named for local plumber and cycling enthusiast Pat Stratton, the ride has become a Saranac Lake tradition with an unusually satisfying equation: beautiful miles + good food + a good cause. Proceeds benefit Saranac Lake Kiwanis Club youth programs throughout the community.

Three ways to ride the Adirondacks.

Cyclists can choose their own level of ambition. The 100-mile Super Century departs at 7:30 am, the 50-mile ride at 10:30 am and the 25-mile ride at 11:30 am.

All three routes showcase the northern Adirondacks, where miles of forest, mountain views and lightly traveled roads make Saranac Lake a particularly rewarding base for road cycling. Ride support and fully stocked rest stops are included, along with an event T-shirt.

The barbecue opens at 1 pm at Mt. Pisgah Recreation Center and runs until 3 pm, when the raffle is drawn and vehicle support ends.

Yes, there really is pie.

Some cyclists ride for the scenery. Others appreciate a century ride with a nobler finish-line objective.

Pie!

Fresh-baked pies have become one of the Pat Stratton Ride's signatures, served alongside the post-ride barbecue at Mt. Pisgah. After 25, 50 or 100 miles of Adirondack pavement, flaky crust and a generous slice of pie cease to seem indulgent and begin to look remarkably like sound sports nutrition.

A Saranac Lake ride that gives back.

The real heart of the Pat Stratton Ride, however, is what happens after the bicycles have been put away.

Registration supports Saranac Lake Kiwanis Club programs for local children, including an annual bicycle rodeo, free bicycle helmet distribution and fittings, a school backpack program, assistance for foster children and summer camp scholarships.

Since the ride began 24 years ago, it has generated more than $140,000 for area youth programs.

ADK Taste recommendation.

Choose the mileage that leaves enough energy to enjoy the finish. The barbecue, raffle and legendary pie are part of the experience, not merely post-ride logistics. Registration is capped at 300 cyclists, so this is not an event to leave until Saturday morning.
