Where in the Adirondacks? Play our Virtual Scavenger Hunt

Do you think you know this place in the ADK?

A historic location in one of the Adirondack Park’s most popular towns.

This place is on a prominent corner in the heart of a scenic village. The large brick building was erected in five stages from the 1840s to the 1890s. Not every incarnation still stands today, but it is an impressive edifice.

Its imposing clock tower makes it a landmark in the village. The building served multiple purposes for the local county government until they moved down the road in the early 1960s.

Preserved and given a new life to benefit the community.

Local preservation groups successfully reopened the building after it had remained vacant for several years. The National Register of Historic Places officially listed it on their roster in 1973.

Today, the building houses the local historical society, a museum, an art gallery and a community arts group offering various public services.

A popular spot for ghosthunters.

This place has a rich history in the early years of Adirondack Park and has also experienced a fair share of spooky occurrences. Visitors and staff report strange and unexplainable events, including cold drafts, mysterious footsteps, and ghostly apparitions. Some have even reported feeling a clammy hand gripping their shoulder or the sensation of an invisible presence breathing down their neck.

Do ghosts live here?

Congratulations to Geraldine V. from North Creek, NY, whose winning submission correctly identified the Old Warren County Courthouse in Lake George Village. The old courthouse is currently home to the Lake George Historical Society and the Lake George Arts Project.

Celebrate the six million acres of the Adirondack Park.

Geraldine won our Adirondack Park 20 oz Stainless Steel Tumbler (retail value $27.50).

It's perfect for her favorite hot or cold beverage on her next road trip, camping expedition or boat ride. With its spill-resistant design, it will help everyone leave no trace.
