Join From Anywhere: Wakesports and Loons Presentation

Loons grace an Adirondack lake.
The Adirondack Center for Loon Conservation (ACLC) hosts a thought-provoking virtual presentation featuring Jack Widness from Responsible Wakes for Vermont Lakes, titled “What Loons and People are Learning about having Wakesports on their Lakes.”
In this engaging session, Mr. Widness will delve into valuable insights drawn from his extensive research on the effects of wake boats on Vermont's picturesque lakes.

He will share evidence-based findings and highlight both the challenges and solutions related to wakesports, fostering a better understanding of how these activities affect not just the aquatic life, especially loons, but also the recreational experiences of the people who cherish these vibrant ecosystems.
This presentation is a part of ACLC’s Loon-Friendly Lakes Certification Program series for 2025, designed to promote the conservation of loons and their habitats while encouraging sustainable recreational practices.
The event is open to the public and offers an excellent opportunity for community members, lake enthusiasts, and conservation advocates to engage in essential discussions surrounding lake stewardship and the co-existence of wildlife and recreational activities.
Attendance is free, but prior registration is required to secure your spot. To register and for more information, please visit the Adirondack Center for Loon Conservation’s website.
